RIDGE Internships

By: RIDGE Coach Burket Kniveton

Four of the student athletes at RIDGE this semester have been actively engaged in internships throughout the 2015 winter semester. The RIDGE internship program allows student athletes to connect with local organizations to gain hands-on, real-world experience working in a mountain town. This semester RIDGE student athletes are interning with the following organizations:

  • The Whiteroom Ski Shop

  • Stumptown Snowboards

  • Riding on Insulin

  • Big Mountain Ski Patrol

Matt and Jack have been interning at The Whiteroom and Stumptown Snowboards. They have been engaged in the ins-and-outs of the day-to-day operations of a retail shop. Both Jack and Matt have helped tune ski gear and they have assisted on the sales floor.

Kirby, who is interning with the non-profit Riding on Insulin, has been assisting the executive director in day-to-day operations and helping the organization create new online camp registration forms.

Timmy has been interning with Big Mountain Ski Patrol. He has assisted pro patrollers in their day-to-day duties. Timmy has helped patrollers respond to incidents on the mountain, and assisted in daily management of the ski hill.

RIDGE’s internship program allows student athletes the opportunity to work with local, mountain inspired organizations to gain real-world experience.
